Wood flooring is generally manufactured from timber that is designed for use as flooring. Engineered and solid hardwood floors are both made of real wood; however, they have significant differences in their overall construction. Engineered hardwood is made of a core of hardwood or plywood with the layer of hardwood veneer affixed to the top surface. The advantage of using engineered hardwood floors include high resistance to different moisture levels environment that solid wood flooring which makes it a perfect choice to use in regions of the country that have higher or lower that normal relative humidity levels. Furthermore, engineered hardwood tends to be easier to install and are less expensive that solid hardwood. Although solid hardwood floor is more expensive that engineered hardwood, it can be repaired by refinishing and sanding imperfections. This feature also makes the hardwood flooring more advantage over laminate flooring.
